CHAPTER 14 IP Screen 14.1 Overview The Internet Protocol (IP) address identifies a device on a network. Every networking device (including computers, servers, routers, printers, etc.) needs an IP address to communicate across the network. These networking devices are also known as hosts. Figure 104 IP Setup The figure above illustrates one possible setup of your NWA. The gateway IP address is 192.168.1.1 and the IP address of the NWA is 192.168.1.2 (default). The gateway and the device must belong in the same subnet mask to be able to communicate with each other. 14.1.1 What You Can Do in the IP Screen Use the IP Screen (see Section 14.2 on page 184) to configure the IP address of your NWA. 14.1.2 What You Need To Know About IP The Ethernet parameters of the NWA are preset with the following values: • IP address of 192.168.1.2 • Subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 (24 bits) NWA-3500/NWA-3550 User's Guide 183
