No Security

Select

to allow wireless stations to communicate with the access points without any data

encryption.

Note: If you do not enable any wireless security on your WAP3205 v3, your network is

accessible to any wireless networking device that is within range.

The following table describes the labels in this screen.

6.4.2

WEP Encryption

WEP encryption scrambles the data transmitted between the wireless stations and the access points to

keep network communications private. It encrypts unicast and multicast communications in a network.

Both the wireless stations and the access points must use the same WEP key.

Channel Width

Select whether the WAP3205 v3 uses a wireless channel width of

20MHz

,

40MHz

or

Auto 20/

40MHz

. A standard 20MHz channel offers transfer speeds of up to 150Mbps whereas a 40MHz

channel uses two standard channels and offers speeds of up to 300 Mbps. Because not all

devices support 40MHz channels, select

Auto 20/40MHz

to allow the WAP3205 v3 to adjust the

channel bandwidth automatically.

Security

Use this section to configure the wireless security between the WAP3205 v3 and its wireless clients.

to allow any client to associate this network without authentication.

Pre-Shared Key

Enter the password that lets you connect to the WAP3205 v3. Your password should be

in a string of ASCII characters between 8 and 63 or hexadecimal characters between

8 and 64.

to reload the previous configuration for this screen.
