Remote Installation Step 1 Identifying the IP Address Once your Switch has been connected to your network and is powered up, a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server on your network will automatically assign the Switch an IP address, gateway address, and subnet mask. To identify the IP address on your network, use the MAC address or unique device number located on the back of the Switch. If no DHCP server is found on your network, the Switch will boot with the following static IP address: 192.168.2.155. If you want to connect more than one Switch to the same network and there is no DHCP server available, connect each Switch to your network one at a time and change the static IP address of each unit before connecting the next unit. Note: If a DHCP server later becomes available on your network, the Switch will take a new IP address from the DHCP server. To keep the original static IP address, you will need to disable DHCP (see page 32). 28
