MASTERING YOUR BERNINA® BERNINA® Electronic 1008 GATHERING WITH A BASTING STITCH Fabric: Needle: Thread: Presser Foot: Medium weight cotton, 12" x 4" 80/12 Universal All-purpose sewing Reverse Pattern #1 • Trim all 4 edges of fabric piece with a wavy rotary cutter. • Use all-purpose sewing thread top and bottom. • Select Straight Stitch #1/green; adjust length to 5mm. • Stitch 5/8" from one 12" edge. • Tie the threads at the beginning to secure and gather the sample up to 6". Notes: - Use a fine darning thread; it is easier to remove after a seam has been sewn. - To secure basting stitches, sew a few normal length straight stitches at the beginning and end of the seam.
