28 Setting Oven Controls About slow cook Setting slow cook The slow cook feature may be used to cook foods more slowly at lower oven temperatures. The cooking results will be like that of a Slow Cooker or Crock-Pot. This feature is ideal for roasting beef, pork & poultry. Slow cooking meats may result in the exterior of meats becoming dark but not burnt; this is normal. Slow cook may be set using the upper oven only. See the example below to set a slow cook on Lo. Step EExxaammpplele 1. Press UPPER OVEN Press Slow cook may be set with the following options: • Cook time • Cook time with end time The following temperature settings apply to the slow cook feature: • HI: 275°F/ 134°C (default) for cooking 4 to 5 hours • Lo: 225°F / 108°C for cooking 8 to 9 hours 2. Press SLOW COOK 3. Press -lo to choose the Lo option -Fig. 2. 4. Press START For best results Fig.1 Fig. 2 • Completely thaw all frozen foods before cooking. • When using a single oven rack, place in position 2 or 3. NOTE Example • Position multiple racks to accommodate size of cooking utensils when cooking multiple food item. You may press CANCEL any time when setting the control or during the cooking process. • Add any cream or cheese sauces during the last hour of cooking. • Do not open the oven door often or leave the door open when checking foods. The more heat that is lost, the longer the food will need to cook. • Cover the foods to keep them moist or use a loose or vented type cover to allow foods to turn crisp or brown. To add or change any cook settings after this feature has started: • Select the UPPER or WARMER oven you wish to change. Make temperature changes using the + or - keys. Each press of + or - will adjust the temperature by 5° F ( or 2°C). Temperature changes when settingSLOW COOK are HI or LO. • If changing cooking times, select thecook time or end time keys needed to make the changes. • Roasts may be left uncovered so browning can occur. Cook times will vary depending on the weight, fat content, bone & the shape of the roast. • Preheating the oven will not be necessary.
