3 Making a Wireless Network Connection Before You Begin... This chapter describes how to configure the HP Jetdirect print server with a wireless network connection to your network. A wireless network connection is required before you can discover and install the printer on your network systems. To configure a wireless connection, you must have a wireless computer that can run the HP wireless connection utilities. Verify the following: z You have a wireless computer with one of the following operating systems: Microsoft Windows 98, Me, NT 4.0, 2000, XP Apple Mac OS 9.x, X 10.1 or greater z Your system's wireless configuration utility and interface card are working properly. z You have installed the HP Jetdirect print server hardware and have printed a Jetdirect configuration page. z (Infrastructure mode only) The access point on your network is operating properly. Note If you reset the print server to factory-default values after you configure a wireless network connection, the network connection will be lost. To re-establish a connection, you will need to reconfigure the print server again. See also page 5-13. Making a Wireless Network Connection 3-1
