Top cover Description Top cover Spare part number 635316-001 Before removing the top cover, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation mode, turn on the computer, and then shut it down using the operating system. 2. Disconnect all of the external devices that are connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 32). 5. Remove the service cover Hard drive / Solid state drive on page 33. 6. Remove the hard drive (see Hard drive / Solid state drive on page 33). 7. Remove the keyboard (see Keyboard on page 43). Remove the top cover: To remove the top cover, follow these steps: 1. Position the computer upside down on a flat surface, with the front toward you. 2. Use a thin, flat tool to release the 2 rubber feet, and then remove the two screws that are located under the rubber feet (1). 3. Remove the remaining 8 screws that secure the keyboard to the computer. 4. Position the computer right-side up, with the front toward you and the display open as far as possible. 5. Before removing the top cover, follow these steps:
1.

Remove the top cover:
To remove the top cover, follow these steps:
1.
Position the computer upside down on a flat surface, with the front toward you.
2.
Use a thin, flat tool to release the 2 rubber feet, and then remove the two screws that are located
under the rubber feet

Remove the remaining 8 screws that secure the keyboard to the computer.
4.
Position the computer right-side up, with the front toward you and the display open as far as
possible.
5.
Lift the rear edge

of the top cover until it detaches from the base enclosure.
