Wireless antennas and cables To remove the wireless antennas and cables, use these procedures. The cables route from the WLAN module to the antennas mounted on the front of the computer. Before removing the wireless antennas and cables, follow these steps: 1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (see Preparation for disassembly on page 19). 2. Remove the access panel (see Access panel on page 19). 3. Remove the optical drive (see Optical drive on page 22). 4. Remove the front bezel (see Front bezel on page 24). 5. Remove the drive cage (see Drive cage on page 33). 6. Disconnect the antenna cables from the WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 35). Remove the wireless antennas: 1. From the inside of the chassis, remove the antenna cables from the clips (1). 2. From the inside-rear of the chassis, press the tab on the plastic antenna cover (2), and then rotate the cover off the back of the chassis (3). 3. Remove the Torx screw from the antenna (4). 4. Pull the antenna cable out through the hole in the rear of the chassis (5). 5. Remove the screw from the front antenna (1). 6. Remove the antenna from the front of the chassis (2), and then remove the antenna cable from the clips along the front of the chassis (3). 46 Chapter 4 Removal and replacement procedures
