Installation Installing the Server in a Rack Step 3. On the front vertical mounting rails only, slide M5 clip nuts onto the rails over the holes immediately adjacent to the vertical slots determined in the previous step. Orient the clip nuts so that the threaded portion faces towards the outside of the enclosure. NOTE If the enclosure is a non-E-Series enclosure, the left hand and right hand aluminum spacers and two of the M5 x 16 screws with cress-cup washers are not required. Proceed to step 5. Step 4. If the enclosure is an E-Series enclosure, place the hook of the aluminum spacer marked "L" into the appropriate vertical, rectangular slot on the front, left hand mounting rail. The hook points downward. Similarly, place the spacer marked "R" into the appropriate slot on the front, right hand mounting rail. 29 30 31 Front Step 5. Install the slider assemblies. (See Figure 1-1). 1. Take the left hand slide/bracket assembly (marked 337079-1L) and install it into the left hand vertical mounting rails. This is done by inserting the pin at the rear of the slide's mounting bracket into the appropriate hole in the rear vertical mounting rail and inserting the hook at the front of the bracket into the vertical, rectangular slot in the aluminum spacer. The slide should be positioned in the enclosure so that it is horizontal and level. 2. Securely fasten the rear of the slide's mounting bracket to the rear vertical mounting rail by installing and tightening two of the M5 x 16 screws with cress-cup washers thorough the mounting rail, through the slides mounting bracket and into the threaded nuts attached to the mounting bracket. 3. Fully extend the slide so that it is locked in the fully open position. Chapter 1 13

Installation
Installing the Server in a Rack

Step 3.
On the front vertical mounting rails only, slide M5 clip nuts onto the rails over the holes
immediately adjacent to the vertical slots determined in the previous step. Orient the clip nuts so
that the threaded portion faces towards the outside of the enclosure.
NOTE
If the enclosure is a non-E-Series enclosure, the left hand and right hand aluminum spacers
and two of the M5 x 16 screws with cress-cup washers are not required.
Proceed to step 5.
Step 4.
If the enclosure is an E-Series enclosure, place the hook of the aluminum spacer marked “L” into
the appropriate vertical, rectangular slot on the front, left hand mounting rail. The hook points
downward. Similarly, place the spacer marked “R” into the appropriate slot on the front, right
hand mounting rail.
Step 5.
Install the slider assemblies. (See Figure 1-1).
1.
Take the left hand slide/bracket assembly (marked 337079-1L) and install it into the left hand
vertical mounting rails. This is done by inserting the pin at the rear of the slide's mounting
bracket into the appropriate hole in the rear vertical mounting rail and inserting the hook at
the front of the bracket into the vertical, rectangular slot in the aluminum spacer. The slide
should be positioned in the enclosure so that it is horizontal and level.
2.
Securely fasten the rear of the slide's mounting bracket to the rear vertical mounting rail by
installing and tightening two of the M5 x 16 screws with cress-cup washers thorough the
mounting rail, through the slides mounting bracket and into the threaded nuts attached to
the mounting bracket.
3.
Fully extend the slide so that it is locked in the fully open position.
