How your RF System works Your RF System allows you to control devices that are behind closed doors. Remote controls generally use infrared (IR) commands to communicate with your devices. These IR commands need a direct line of sight between the remote and the device to work. Your Harmony 900 also sends radio frequency (RF) signals, like the ones used for cordless phones, that can go through objects, such as a closed cabinet door. Your RF system converts these signals into IR commands that reach the devices and perform the requested action, such as turning on your TV or playing your DVD. Here's how it works: • You press Watch TV on your Harmony 900 to start watching the news • The RF signals are sent from your Harmony 900 through your cabinet door • The Harmony 900 RF System converts the signals into IR commands • The IR commands reach your TV and your cable box • Your TV and cable box turn on DVD CD Mini Blaster Cable/Satellite Mini Blaster Relays IR signals to any device in range Cabinet AV Receiver Blaster Picks up RF signals from remote and converts to IR signals RF signals Communicates through cabinet doors My Activies 1/2 pages 4:51 Remote Sends RF signals to RF System etti gs evices Activities ep 7 Me it ie
