To use the face In Shooting mode, press [m] ĺ b ĺ Face Detection ĺ detection function, an option. • When your camera detects a face, it tracks the detected face automatically. • Depending on the Picture Wizard options, Face Detection may not be effective. • When you set manual focus, Face Detection may not be available. • Face Detection may not be effective when: - the subject is far from the camera - it is too bright or too dark - the subject is not facing the camera - the subject is wearing sunglasses or a mask - the subject's facial expression changes drastically - the subject is backlit or the lighting conditions are unstable • When you set Face Detection options, the AF area is automatically set to Multi AF. • Depending on the Face Detection options you selected, some shooting options may not be available. Normal The camera focuses on human faces preferentially. Faces of up to 10 people can be detected. This setting is recommended for shooting a group of people. When you press [Shutter] halfway, the camera focuses on faces as shown in the photo below. In cases of shooting a group of people, the camera displays the focus on the nearest person's face in white and the rest of the people's faces in gray. 79
