Chapter 15. Security and Privacy Tools Seagate BlackArmor Backup includes tools for secure destruction of data on an entire hard disk drive, individual partitions, as well as for erasing individual files and eliminating user system activity traces. These tools ensure the security of your confidential information, as well as maintain your privacy when you work with a PC, because they clean-up the evidence showing your actions (records in various system files) that you don't even know about. This could include user names and passwords. If you need to: securely destroy files or folders you select, run File Shredder. securely destroy data on selected partitions and/or disks so it can't be recovered, run BlackArmor DriveCleanser. clean up Windows components (folders, files, registry sections, etc.) related to general system tasks which are capable of retaining user PC activity evidence, run System Clean-up. 15.1 Using File Shredder The File Shredder enables quick selection of files and folders to destroy them permanently. To run the folders/files shredder, select Tools -> File Shredder in the main program menu. This starts File Shredder Data Destruction Wizard, which will guide you through the steps required for permanently destroying the selected files and folders. 1.
