POWER TO COPIER 2 Plug the other end of the power cord into the nearest outlet. Only insert the power cord into a properly grounded wall socket. Do not use extension cords or power strips. Installation CONNECTING THE INTERFACE CABLE 2 (AL-840 only) To use the AL-840 as a laser printer, connect it to the parallel interface cable. q Use the parallel interface cable included with the AL-840. q For specifications of the parallel interface, see the printer operation manual. 1 Check that the power switches of both the printer and the computer are in the OFF position. 2 Plug the parallel interface cable into one of the printer interface connectors (either connector can be used). Fasten the two bail clips at the side of the printer connector to hold the interface connector in place. The printer sends and receives data bi-directionally and at high speed. Some switch boxes and pass-through devices cannot support high-speed, bidirectional transfer of data, and using them may cause printing errors. 16

CONNECTING THE INTERFACE CABLE
(AL-840 only)
To use the AL-840 as a laser printer, connect it to the parallel interface cable.
Use the parallel interface cable included with the AL-840.
For specifications of the parallel interface, see the printer operation manual.
