Before operation for connecting with the A/V connecting cable
Set DISPLAY in

Insert the blank tape (or the tape you want to record over) into your
camcorder. If you are recording the tape from the VCR, insert the recorded
tape into the VCR.

on the VCR to start playback if you record the tape from a VCR.

If your VCR is a monaural type
