How to operate basic applications (PIM)/ You cannot beam data You cannot beam data Verify the following first B Verify that Beam Receive is set to On in the General Preferences screen from Preferences. B The IR port of both your CLIÉ handheld and the device must be facing each other. Always point the IR port of your CLIÉ handheld at the IR port of the Palm OS® PDA device. B The distance between the two devices is not correct. Verify that your CLIÉ handheld and the other Palm OS® PDA devices are between 4 to 8 inches (approximately 10 to 20 centimeters) apart, and that the path between your CLIÉ handheld and the device must be unobstructed. The beaming distance to other Palm OS® PDA devices or to your computer varies depending on the compatibility between the devices. Change the distance and then try again. The error message for insufficient memory space is displayed when you receive data via beaming B To receive data via beaming, you need free memory space in your CLIÉ handheld that is at least twice the size of the data you receive. If the memory space is insufficient, delete any unnecessary data. B Perform a soft reset by pressing the RESET button. b For details, refer to "Basic Operations of your Sony CLIÉ™ handheld: Restarting your Sony CLIÉ™ handheld" in "Read This First (Operating Instructions)." 31
