Calibrating a sensor When a sensor is detected, it automatically loads a calibration for that sensor. You have the option of calibrating sensors. Some sensors cannot be calibrated, while other sensors, such as the Colorimeter and the Dissolved Oxygen Probe must be calibrated to be useful. There are three options when calibrating a sensor: • Manual Entry • Two Point • Single Point See your sensor's specifications for information on the calibration values and procedures to change. Zeroing a sensor Not all sensors can be zeroed. Sensors where relative measurements are common, such as Force, Motion, and Pressure, can be zeroed. Sensors designed to measure specific environmental conditions, such as Temperature, PH, and CO2 cannot be zeroed. To set the standing value to zero: ³ Select Experiment > Set Up Sensor > Zero. The sensor value is now at zero. If more than one attached sensor can be zeroed, you will see a list of sensors to chose from along with an option to zero all sensors. Reversing a sensor Use this feature to change the display of the reading. By default, pulling with a force sensor produces a positive force and pushing produces a negative force. Reversing the sensor allows you to display pushing as a positive force. If more than one sensor can be reversed, choose the one to reverse from the provided list. To reverse the sign of the sensor reading: ³ Select Experiment > Set Up Sensor > Reverse. The sensor sign is now reversed.
