A practical example of this is with the open and closed hi-hat voices. When you play an actual hi-hat-first open, then closed-the closed hi-hat naturally mutes the ringing open sound. Likewise, when the open and closed hi-hat voices are assigned to the same alternate group, the playing of one mutes the other. * This setting has no affect on two-layer input sources.
