Securing a Child Restraint ina Center Rear Seat Position (Four-Door Models) Don't use child restraints in the center position of a 60/40 bench seat. When ybu Securea child restraint in a center seating position, you'll be using the lap belt. But don't use the rear center seat, unless the base of the child restraint is small enough to let you reach the buckle and latch plate easily. See theearlier part about the top strap if the child restraint has one. 1. Make the belt as long as possible by tilting the latch plate and pulling it along the belt. cl 2. Put the restraint on the seat. Follow the instructions for the c'hill restraint. 3. Secure the child in the child restraint as the instructions say. 4. Run the vehicle's safety belt through or around the restraint. The child restraint instructions will show you how. 1-34
