SAFE OPERATION 85 Before Starting the Engine Three "musts" before starting the engine are: 1) Set the parking brake, 2) Put the transmission in neutral, Use the Parking Brake Always apply the parking brake before getting off your vehicle. If it should roll, it might be damaged or cause injury. NOTE j żThe engine can be started in any shift position if the brake is applied. However, it is recommended to shift into neutral before starting the engine. 3) Check the throttle for proper operation. It should snap closed when released with the handlebars in any position. NOTICE The brake light goes on whenever you apply the parking brake. If you leave the brake light on for a long time, the battery may become totally discharged. Whenever you leave the vehicle, turn off ignition key.
