34 CHAPTER 4: CONFIGURING THE SWITCH System Time Click Administration, then System Time on the menu. This screen allows you to set the system time. You can set the Year, Month, Day, Hours, Minutes, and Seconds. Figure 20 System Time Screen Summary Displays the list community access strings. Figure 21 SNMP Summary Screen SNMP Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is a communication protocol designed specifically for managing devices on a network. Equipment commonly managed with SNMP includes switches, routers and host computers. SNMP is typically used to configure these devices for proper operation in a network environment, as well as to monitor them to evaluate performance or detect potential problems. Click Administration, then SNMP on the menu. A screen appears with four system access tabs: ■ Summary ■ Setup ■ SNMP Add ■ SNMP Remove Setup Enable or disable the SNMP Agent Status.
