2.9.3 CPU Frequency This parameter displays your CPU's speed and bus frequency. It also allows you to specify the CPU frequency multiplier. Selecting this option displays the following screen: CPU Frequency Bus Frequency 100 MHz CPU Multiple 5] Processor Speed 500 MHz Processor Serial Number ...... [Disabled] Bus Frequency The bus frequency refers to the speed by which data is transferred between internal computer components and the CPU or the main memory of the CPU. A fast bus allows data to be transferred faster, which makes applications run faster. CPU Multiple This parameter sets the Core/bus ratio of your system. The clock speed of the bus does not necessarily equal the CPU's (core). The bus clock speed is often slower than the CPU clock speed. Processor Speed The processor speed is the speed at which a microprocessor executes instructions. Clock speeds are expressed in megahertz (MHz), with 1 MHz being equal to 1 million cycles per second. The faster the clock, the more instructions the CPU can execute per second. Altos 500 Series User's Guide
