7 Binarization and Color Separation Þ It is sufficient to specify one range to binarize isolines in this image. For this purpose indicate a point with coordinates X= 37.45 and by Y= 27.19. The central color shall be H:28, S:53, and V:78. The range half-lengths are 28, 25, 25, respectively. The coordinates of the cursor and color components are dynamically displayed in the two right most boxes of the program window status line. In the Colors list there is a color sample, corresponding to the created range. The created range parameters are shown in Ranges. These parameters are range half-lengths - deviation by H (hue), S (saturation), and V (brightness) from the range central color. The image pixels, whose color characteristics are within the specified limits, will be shifted to a monochrome layer. If you make a mistake when selecting a color, then delete the created range, clicking the Remove Color button in Color and repeat the color selection procedure. The preview window displays the results of the binarization of the preview area. If a part of isoline dots are not binarized, then create one more or several ranges, specifying isoline pixels that do not fall within the available ranges. For precise pixel picking it is convenient to use the eyedropper button. When selecting colors with the use of this button, the selected pixel color is not averaged. When color selecting in the preview area, the preview window indicates the selected pixel position with a cross. It enables you to select a pixel of a lacking color. After you make sure that all the pixels of the isolines in the current view area are enclosed in the defined ranges, you should review the binarization results of other image parts. If during preview you find an image fragment with unsatisfactory binarization results, then you can try to improve the binarization quality by adding a range containing the lacking colors. 5. It is convenient to use the following procedure to preview the results of the operation. Specify the image scale 1:1 in the preview window, clicking the 1:1 button located in the bottom part of the preview window. Zoom the image in the program window so that the entire image is displayed with the maximum possible magnification. Use the Zoom All button on the AutoCAD toolbar or the appropriate command from the View menu. The current position of the preview area is indicated with a red frame in the image. The preview window displays the binarization results of this area. Moving the preview area all over the image, we can see the binarization results of the image parts we are interested in. Use the WiseImage toolbar button to move a preview area. When this command starts, the program shifts to the preview area move mode and the cursor takes a form of palm. You can move the preview area to any image spot by clicking this spot or dragging the preview area frame. 99
