9.5.8 Call Screening When the answering machine is on and takes a call, you can listen to the caller leaving a message, from the handset or the base, and then decide whether to take the call in person. 9.5.8.1 Screening at the base By default, answering machine calls are played automatically through the base speaker and the volume can be adjusted with the Volume + and Volume - keys on the base. If you don't want the caller to be heard when leaving a message, the base screening can be turned off, as follows: 1. Press [Menu] and to select Answer Machine. 2. Press [Select] and to select TAM Settings. 3. Press [Select] and to select Remote Access. 4. Press [Select] and to select On or Off. 5. Press [Select] to confirm the setting. 9.5.8.2 Screening with a handset If the answering machine is set to ON, when there is an incoming message, the handset will display "Screen?" 1. Press [ OK ] to start call screening. Any handset can listen. 2. The handset will display "Screening". 3. You can adjust the speaker volume by pressing , or listen via the earpiece by pressing . OR 4. Press [ Back ] to stop the screening and return to the previous display, "Screen?". At any time if you want to pick up the call, you can press [ PickUp] or and the message recording will be stopped automatically. If the answering machine is in the process of recording, the message already stored will be saved. 35

Screening at the base
By default, answering machine calls are played automatically through
the base speaker and the volume can be adjusted with the Volume +
and Volume - keys on the base. If you don't want the caller to be heard
when leaving a message, the base screening can be turned off, as
follows:

If the answering machine is set to ON, when there is an incoming message,

You can adjust the speaker volume by pressing <UP or DOWN>, or
listen via the earpiece by pressing <SPEAKERPHONE>.

[ Back ] to stop the screening and return to the previous display,

At any time if you want to pick up the call, you can press

<TALK> and the message recording will be stopped automatically.
If the
