Glossary Bubble Jet (BJ) printing An ink jet type printer that heats the ink to a boiling point in a nozzle to form a bubble. When the bubble expands, there is no room left in the nozzle for the ink and the ink is projected onto paper. C CCITT/ITU-TS Formerly known as CCITT, Consultative Committee for International Telegraph and Telephone. CCITT has been replaced by the International Telecommunications Union-Telecommunications Sector (ITU-TS), a committee created to set international standards for telecommunications. Centronics An interface standard for parallel data transmission. The interface on the MultiPASS is a Centronics-type parallel interface. CNG Calling Tone. This is a signal sent by fax machines to identify the call as an incoming document. When the receiving fax detects this signal, it automatically starts to receive the fax transmission. The majority of fax machines in use today can send and detect CNG signals. Coded speed dialing An automatic dialing method that allows you to dial a fax or telephone number by pressing the Coded Dial button and a two-digit code using the numeric buttons. cps Characters per second. A unit of measurement that indicates the printer's speed. Cursor The underline symbol you see in the LCD display when you register numbers and names in the MultiPASS. Glossary G-3
