Turnthe key from the NORMALMOWING(Green)positionto the REVERSECAUTIONMODE(Yellow)positionof the keyswitch module.See Figure4. 1. Insertthe tractorkey intothe key switchmodule. 2. Disengagethe PTO(Blade Engage)knob. 3. Engagethe tractor'sparkingbrake. 4. Pullthe chokecontrol knoboutwardintothe fullchoke position(a warm enginemay notrequirechoking). 5. Movethe throttlecontrolleverto the FASTposition. 6. Turnthe ignitionkeyclockwiseto the STARTposition.After the enginestarts, releasethe key.It will returnto the NORMAL MOWINGposition. Doingso maycausedamageto your engine'selectricstarter. 7. After the enginestarts,graduallypushthe chokeknobfully inward as the enginewarmsup. NOTE:Donot usethe chokecontrolto enrichthe fuel mixture,except as necessaryto startand warm up the engine. IMPORTANT Position If leavingthe tractorunattended,alsoturn the ignitionkeyoff and removethe key. J Figure4 3. Depressthe REVERSEPUSHBUTTON(Orange,Triangular Button)at the top, rightcornerof the key switchmodule.The red indicatorlight at the top, left cornerof the key switchmodulewill be ON whileactivated.See Figure4. 4. Onceactivated(indicatorlightON), the tractorcan be drivenin reversewith the cuttingblades(PTO)engaged. 5. Alwayslookdownand behindbeforeand whilebackingto make sureno childrenare around. 6. After resumingforwardmotion,returnthe keyto the NORMAL MOWINGposition. IMPORTANTT: he REVERSECAUTIONMODEwill remainactivated until: a. Thekey is placedin eitherthe NORMALMOWINGposition or STOPposition. b. Theoperatorleavesthe seat.Followthe previousinstructions to re-activate. STARTING THE ENGINE was desic )rotection. Do not mowon slopein excessof 15degrees(a rise of approximately2-1/2feet every 10 feet). Plan yourmowingpatternto avoiddischargeof materialstowardroads,sidewalks,bystandersand the like.Also, avoiddischargingmaterialagainst a wallor obstructionwhich maycausedischarged materialto ricochetback towardtheoperator. STOPPING THE ENGINE If you strikea foreignobject,stopthe engineand disconnectthe spark plugwire(s). Thoroughlyinspectthe machinefor any damage.Repairthe damagebeforerestartingand operating. 1. If the bladesare engaged,disengagethe PTO. 2. Movethe throttlecontrolleverto midwaybetweenthe halfand full throttle.Thenturn the ignitionkey counterclockwiseto the OFF position. 3. Removethe key fromthe ignitionswitchto preventunintended starting. 15
