www.dell.com | support.dell.com (Optional) Reconfigure default VLT settings Step Task Command Syntax 4 (Optional) When you create a VLT domain on a switch, unit-id {0 | 1} the FTOS software automatically assigns a unique unit ID (0 or 1) to each peer switch. The unit IDs are used for internal system operations. Use the unit-id command to explicitly configure the default values on each peer switch. You must configure a different unit ID (0 or 1) on each peer switch. Use this command to minimize the time required for the VLT system to determine the unit ID assigned to each peer switch when one peer switch reboots. Command Mode VLT DOMAIN CONFIGURATION Connect a VLT domain to an attached access device (switch or server) Step Task Command Syntax Command Mode On a VLT peer switch: Configure the same port channel ID number on each peer switch in the VLT domain to connect to an attached device as follows: 1 Configure the same port channel to be used to connect to interface port-channel an attached device and enter interface configuration id-number mode. CONFIGURATION 2 Remove an IP address from the interface. no ip address INTERFACE PORT-CHANNEL 3 Place the interface in Layer 2 mode. switchport INTERFACE PORT-CHANNEL 4 Add one or more port interfaces to the port channel. channel-member interface INTERFACE interface specifies one of the following interface types: PORT-CHANNEL 1-Gigabit Ethernet: Enter gigabitethernet slot/port. 10-Gigabit Ethernet: Enter tengigabitethernet slot/port. 5 Ensure that the port channel is active. no shutdown INTERFACE PORT-CHANNEL 6 Associate the port channel to the corresponding port vlt-peer-lag port-channel channel in the VLT peer for the VLT connection to an id-number attached device. Valid port-channel ID numbers are from 1 to 128. INTERFACE PORT-CHANNEL 7 Repeat Steps 1 to 6 on the VLT peer switch to configure the same port channel as part of the VLT domain. 8 On an attached switch or server: Configure a port channel to connect to the VLT domain and add port channels to it.
