CAUTION: To avoid electrostatic discharge, ground yourself by using a wrist grounding strap or by periodically touching an unpainted metal surface (such as a connector on your computer). CAUTION: To help prevent damage to the system board, remove the main battery (see Removing the Battery) before working inside the computer. Removing the Speaker 1. Follow the instructions in Before You Begin. 2. Remove the battery (see Removing the Battery). 3. Remove the module cover (see Removing the Module Cover). 4. Remove the keyboard (see Removing the Keyboard). 5. Remove the palm rest (see Removing the Palm Rest). 6. Lift the connector latches and pull the pull-tabs to disconnect the hard- drive cable and the status light board cable from their connectors on the system board. 7. Peel the status light board cable that is glued on the speaker. 1 hard-drive cable 2 status light board connector cable connector 8. Disconnect the speaker cable from the connector on the system board. 9. Remove the two screws that secure the speaker to the computer base.

Removing the Speaker
1.
Follow the instructions in
Before You Begin
.
2.
Remove the battery (see
Removing the Battery
).
3.
Remove the module cover (see
Removing the Module Cover
).
4.
Remove the keyboard (see
Removing the Keyboard
).
5.
Remove the palm rest (see
Removing the Palm Rest
).
6.
Lift the connector latches and pull the pull-tabs to disconnect the hard- drive cable and the status light board cable from their connectors on the system
board.
7.
Peel the status light board cable that is glued on the speaker.
8.
Disconnect the speaker cable from the connector on the system board.
9.
Remove the two screws that secure the speaker to the computer base.
