About this task NOTE: The heat sink may become hot during normal operation. Allow sufficient time for the heat sink to cool before you touch it. NOTE: For maximum cooling of the processor, do not touch the heat transfer areas on the heat sink. The oils in your skin can reduce the heat transfer capability of the thermal grease. The following image(s) indicate the location of the processor and provides a visual representation of the removal procedure. Steps 1. Press the release lever down and then push it away from the processor to release it from the securing tab. 2. Extend the release lever completely and open the processor cover. CAUTION: When removing the processor, do not touch any of the pins inside the socket or allow any objects to fall on the pins in the socket. 3. Gently lift the processor from the processor socket. Installing the processor Prerequisites If you are replacing a component, remove the existing component before performing the installation process. Steps
1.
Press the release lever down and then push it away from the processor to release it from the securing tab.
2.
Extend the release lever completely and open the processor cover.
CAUTION:
When removing the processor, do not touch any of the pins inside the socket or allow any objects
to fall on the pins in the socket.
3.
Gently lift the processor from the processor socket.
