• Enable dynamic resolution of host names. CONFIGURATION mode ip domain-lookup • Specify up to six name servers. CONFIGURATION mode ip name-server ip-address [ip-address2 ... ip-address6] The order you entered the servers determines the order of their use. • When you enter the traceroute command without specifying an IP address (Extended Traceroute), you are prompted for a target and source IP address, timeout in seconds (default is 5), a probe count (default is 3), minimum TTL (default is 1), maximum TTL (default is 30), and port number (default is 33434). CONFIGURATION mode traceroute [host | ip-address] To keep the default setting for these parameters, press the ENTER key. ARP runs over Ethernet and enables endstations to learn the MAC addresses of neighbors on an IP network. Over time, Dell Networking OS creates a forwarding table mapping the MAC addresses to their corresponding IP address. This table is called the ARP Cache and dynamically learned addresses are removed after a defined period of time.
