Remove the Phillips M2.0 × 3.9 screw

Before removing the solid-state drive, follow these steps: 1. Prepare the computer for disassembly (see Preparation for disassembly on page 48). 2. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 48). 3. Disconnect the battery cable from the system board (see Battery on page 50). Remove the solid-state drive: 1. Remove the solid-state drive shield (1). The solid-state drive shield is included in the Bracket Kit, spare part number N08562-001. 2. Remove the Phillips M2.0 × 3.9 screw (2) that secures the solid-state drive to the computer. 3. Remove the solid-state drive (3) by sliding it out of the socket at an upward angle. 4. Thoroughly clean the thermal material from the surfaces of the solid-state drive and the solid-state drive shield each time the solid-state drive shield is removed. Replacement thermal material is included with the solid-state drive shield spare part kit. The following illustration shows the replacement thermal material locations.
