Hardware Upgrades 4. Remove the screw on the slot cover retention latch and pull the slot cover retention latch up. 5. Hold the card at each end and carefully rock it back and forth until the connectors pull free from the socket. Pull the expansion card straight up from the socket 1 then away from the inside of the chassis 2 to release it from the chassis frame. Be sure not to scrape the card against the other components. If not replacing the old expansion card with a new expansion card, install an expansion slot cover to close the open slot. 8. Slide the slot cover lock down to secure the expansion cards and expansion slot covers. Ä CAUTION: All expansion card slots on the rear of the computer must contain either an expansion card or slot cover for proper cooling of internal components during operation. 9.
