Thermal module NOTE: The thermal module assembly spare part kit includes replacement thermal material. Description Thermal module (includes fan and heat sink) Spare part number L19599-001 Before removing the thermal module, follow these steps: 1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 25). 5. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 27). Remove the thermal module: 1. Lift the tape from the system board (1) while leaving the tape connected to the heat sink. 2. Disconnect the fan cable from the system board (2). 3. In the order indicated on the heat sink, loosen the four Phillips screws (3) that secure the heat sink to the system board. 4. Before removing the thermal module, follow these steps:
1.
Turn
off
the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is
off
or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by
first
unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and
then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.
Remove the bottom cover (see

).
5.
Remove the battery (see
Battery
on page
27
).
Remove the thermal module:
1.
Lift the tape from the system board

while leaving the tape connected to the heat sink.
2.
Disconnect the fan cable from the system board

3.
In the order indicated on the heat sink, loosen the four Phillips screws

the system board.
4.
Remove the three Phillips M2.0×3.5 screws

that secure the fan to the system board.
