If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 25). 5. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 27). 6. Remove the system board (see System board on page 46). Remove the volume button: 1. Press the two legs in to release them from the clips in the computer (1). 2. Push inward on the side of the button to disengage it from the computer (2). NOTE: Be sure to press the side of the button (not the center). You can press either side of the button to release it. 3. Lift the disengaged side up to release the button from the computer (3). 4.
