Display assembly This section describes removing the display assembly in its entirety and disassembling all the display subcomponents. If you only need to remove the display bezel, webcamera/microphone module, or display panel, you do not need to remove the entire display assembly from the computer. See Display subcomponents (bezel, webcam, panel) on page 34 for more information about removing the display subcomponents that do not require that you remove the entire display assembly from the computer. Before removing the display assembly, follow these steps: 1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 31), and then remove the following components: a. Optical drive (see Optical drive on page 32) b. Top cover (see Top cover on page 39) Remove the display assembly: 1. Disconnect the display cable (1) by flipping open the connector and lifting the cable. 2. Release the wireless antenna cables from the clips (2) built into the base enclosure. 3. Display assembly
This section describes removing the display assembly in its entirety and disassembling all the display
subcomponents.
If you only need to remove the display bezel, webcamera/microphone module, or display panel, you do not
need to remove the entire display assembly from the computer. See Display subcomponents (bezel, webcam,
panel) on page 34 for more information about removing the display subcomponents that do not require that
you remove the entire display assembly from the computer.
Before removing the display assembly, follow these steps:
1.
Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see
Battery
on page
31
), and then remove the following components:
a.
Optical drive (see
Optical drive
on page
32
)
b.
Top cover (see
Top cover
on page
39
)
Remove the display assembly:
1.
Disconnect the display cable
(1)
by flipping open the connector and lifting the cable.
2.
Release the wireless antenna cables from the clips

built into the base enclosure.
3.
Remove the three Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screws
(3)
that secure the display assembly to the base enclosure.
