Description For use only on computer models with model numbers 17-s100 through 17-s199: 1-TB, 7200-rpm, SATA, 9.5-mm For use on all computer models: 2-TB, 5400-rpm, SATA, 9.5-mm 1-TB, 5400-rpm, SATA, 9.5-mm 1-TB, 5400-rpm, 8-GB hybrid, 7.0-mm Spare part number 766644-005 801808-005 778192-005 731999-005 Before removing the hard drive, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 24). 5. Remove the optical drive (see Optical drive on page 25). 6. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 28). Remove the hard drive: 1. Release the zero insertion force (ZIF) connector (1) to which the hard drive cable is connected, and then disconnect the hard drive cable from the system board. Component replacement procedures 31

Before removing the hard drive, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is
off
or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by
