TouchPad Component TouchPad (includes cable) Spare part number 788607-001 Before replacing the TouchPad, follow these steps: 1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the bottom cover (see Bottom cover on page 25). 5. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 33). Remove the TouchPad: 1. Disconnect the TouchPad cable from the system board (1). 2. Remove the Mylar from atop the middle screw of the touchpad (2). 3. Remove the five Phillips PM1.5×2.0 broad head screws (3) that secure the TouchPad to the computer. 4. Remove the TouchPad (4). Reverse this procedure to install the TouchPad. TouchPad 35
