Hard drive NOTE: The hard drive spare part kit does not include the hard drive rubber bracket, hard drive connector cable, or screws. These components are included in the Hard Drive Hardware Kit, spare part number 740706-001. Description Spare part number 1 TB, 5400 rpm, 9.5 mm 676521-005 750 GB, 5400 rpm, 9.5 mm 634250-005 500 GB, 5400 rpm, 7.0 mm 683802-005 mSATA solid-state drive, 24 GB (for use with select computer models with Intel processors, HM86 732085-001 Express chipsets, and switchable discrete graphics) Before removing the hard drive, follow these steps: 1. Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer. 3. Disconnect all external devices from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 49), and then remove the following components: a. Optical drive (see Optical drive on page 55) b. Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 62) c. Service door (see Service door on page 50) d. WLAN module (see WLAN module on page 53) e. Memory module (see Memory module on page 51) f. Before removing the hard drive, follow these steps:

Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
