Top cover Description Top cover (includes TouchPad board and cable) Spare part number 608643-001 Before removing the top cover, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 36). 5. Remove the hard drive cover (see WLAN module on page 38). 6. Remove the hard drive (see Drives on page 44). 7. Remove the keyboard (see Keyboard on page 47). Remove the top cover. 1. Position the computer upside down on a flat surface, with the front toward you. 2. Use a thin, flat tool to release the 4 rubber feet. 3. Remove the 2 PM2.0×9.0 screws (1) and the 3 PM2.0×5.0 screws (2) (located under the rubber device feet) that secure the top cover to the base enclosure. 4. Before removing the top cover, follow these steps:

1.
Position the computer upside down on a flat surface, with the front toward you.
2.
Use a thin, flat tool to release the 4 rubber feet.
3.
Remove the 2 PM2.0×9.0 screws

and the 3 PM2.0×5.0 screws
(2)
(located under the rubber
device feet) that secure the top cover to the base enclosure.
4.
Position the computer right-side up, with the front toward you and the display open as far as
possible.
