Removal and replacement procedures Speakers Description Speakers (include cables) Spare part number 580699-001 Before removing the speakers, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see "Battery" on page 4-6). 5. Remove the keyboard (see "Keyboard" on page 4-16). 6. Remove the top cover (see "Top cover" on page 4-19). Remove the speakers: 1. Position the base enclosure with the front edge toward you. 2. Disconnect the speaker cable 1 from the system board. 3. Remove the three silver Phillips 2.0×6.0 screws 2 that secure the speakers to the enclosure. ✎ There are rubber grommets on each of the three screw holes. If you need to replace the speakers, confirm that these rubber grommets are also replaced before installing another speakers. 4. Remove the speakers 3. Removal and replacement procedures
Speakers
Before removing the speakers, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on,
and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then
unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4. Remove the battery (see
“Battery” on page 4-6
).
5. Remove the keyboard (see
“Keyboard” on page 4-16
).
6. Remove the top cover (see
“Top cover” on page 4-19
).
Remove the speakers:
1. Position the base enclosure with the front edge toward you.
2. Disconnect the speaker cable

from the system board.
3. Remove the three silver Phillips 2.0×6.0 screws

that secure the speakers to the enclosure.
There are rubber grommets on each of the three screw holes. If you need to replace the speakers, confirm that
these rubber grommets are also replaced before installing another speakers.
4. Remove the speakers

Reverse this procedure to install the speakers.
