Fan Description Fan Spare part number 689658-001 Before removing the fan, follow these steps: 1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system. 2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer. 3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer. 4. Remove the battery (see Battery on page 33). 5. Remove the following components: a. Bottom door (see Bottom door on page 34). b. Keyboard (see Keyboard on page 45) c. Top cover (see Top cover on page 47) Remove the fan: 1. Position the computer upside down. 2. Disconnect the fan cable from the system board. 3. Position the computer upright. 4. Remove the Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screw (1) that secures the fan to the system board. Component replacement procedures 57

Before removing the fan, follow these steps:
1.

Remove the following components:

Remove the fan:
1.
Position the computer upside down.
2.
Disconnect the fan cable from the system board.
3.
Position the computer upright.
4.
Remove the Phillips PM2.5×4.0 screw
(1)
that secures the fan to the system board.
