Prepare the Disk Array To install the disk array, the HP service representative performs the following tasks: 1. Assemble final hardware. 2. Load the microprogram updates for SCSI/Fibre Channel support. 3. Install the SCSI or Fibre Channel adapters and cabling. 4. Install and format the logical devices using the disk array's service processor (SVP). Setting the Host Mode for the Disk Array Ports The disk array ports have special modes that must be set for certain middleware environments; for example, IRIS FailSafe or SGI Advanced Cluster Environment (ACE) software. Use the LUN Configuration Manager software to set the host mode for each port. Figure 1. LUN Configuration Manager Set Host Mode Dialog Box The required host mode setting for IRIX operations is 00. Configuring the Disk Array Fibre Channel Ports You must configure the disk array Fibre Channel ports to define the Fibre Channel parameters and port addresses.
