Taskbar and menus The default taskbar contains the following menus that provide quick function access: ● Applications menu ● Places menu ● Desktop menu Applications menu The Applications menu contains a hierarchy of submenus, from which you can start the applications that are installed on your thin client. Each submenu corresponds to a category. For example, in the Internet submenu, you will find the HP Connection Administrator used for connecting to a server. To launch an application, 1. Click Applications. 2. Move the cursor down the menu to the category of the application you want. Each submenu opens as your cursor passes over the category. 3. Click the menu item for the application. When you install a new application, it is automatically added to the Applications menu in a suitable category. For example, the Web browser can be found in the Applications > Internet submenu. Applications submenus Submenus contain tools to manage and use your computer: ● Root Terminal: Opens a terminal as the root user, using GKSU to ask for the administrative password. It is useful to menu items or other graphical programs that need to ask a user's password to run another program as another user. ENWW Taskbar and menus 3
