Environmental requirements The environmental specifications for operating this system must be satisfied before installation. Altitude requirements The maximum altitude for system operation is 3,000 meters (9,842 feet). The minimum altitude for system operation is -60 meters (-197 feet). Air conditioning requirements Use separate computer room air conditioning duct work. If it is not separate from the rest of the building, it might be difficult to control cooling and air pressure levels. Duct work seals are important for maintaining a balanced air conditioning system and high static air pressure. Adequate cooling capacity means little if humidity levels increase when the ducts are exposed to warm air, producing condensation. Condensation on any disk hardware can damage the components. Cooling airflow for XP24000 is air intake at front and rear and hot air exhaust out the top. Therefore XP24000 is not suitable in a hot isle containment system. To maintain needed air flow, the minimum open air clearance over the top of an XP24000 is 20cm (8 in) for a Single Frame system (DKC only) or 40cm (16 in) for a Multi Frame system (DKC+DKUs). XP20000 Cooling airflow is air intake at front and hot air exhaust out the rear. Therefore XP20000 is suitable in a hot isle containment system. Any questions regarding the adequacy of airflow construction should be referred to and evaluated by a qualified structural engineer. Environmental requirements
The environmental specifications for operating this system must be satisfied before installation.
Altitude requirements
The maximum altitude for system operation is 3,000 meters (9,842 feet). The minimum altitude for
system operation is
60 meters (
197 feet).
Air conditioning requirements
Use separate computer room air conditioning duct work. If it is not separate from the rest of the
building, it might be difficult to control cooling and air pressure levels. Duct work seals are important
for maintaining a balanced air conditioning system and high static air pressure. Adequate cooling
capacity means little if humidity levels increase when the ducts are exposed to warm air, producing
condensation. Condensation on any disk hardware can damage the components.
Cooling airflow for XP24000 is air intake at front and rear and hot air exhaust out the top. Therefore
XP24000 is not suitable in a hot isle containment system. To maintain needed air flow, the minimum
open air clearance over the top of an XP24000 is 20cm (8 in) for a Single Frame system (DKC only)
or 40cm (16 in) for a Multi Frame system (DKC+DKUs).
XP20000 Cooling airflow is air intake at front and hot air exhaust out the rear. Therefore XP20000
is suitable in a hot isle containment system.
Any questions regarding the adequacy of airflow construction should be referred to and evaluated
by a qualified structural engineer.
