Maintenance Familiarize yourself with these home maintenance tasks as proper use and care of your cleaner will ensure continued cleaning effectiveness. Filter bag When to replace Check filter bag from time to time. Your cleaner will not operate effectively if the filter bag is too full. NOTE: All new carpet has loose fibers which can fill the bag quickly while vacuuming. If you are using the cleaner on new carpet, be sure to change the filter bag often. CAUTION: Very fine materials, such as face powder or cornstarch, may seal the filter bag and cause it to burst even though it is only partially full of dirt. When cleaner is used to remove material of this nature, change filter bag often. Where to buy Filter bags may be purchased from your Authorized Hoover Dealer (Depot), Leading Retailers, Hoover Sales and Service Centers or on-line at www.hoover.com, or using the reorder form at the back of this manual. What to buy To assure cleaning effectiveness, use only Genuine HOOVER® HEPA Filtration Type W2 (patent pending) disposable filter bags, part No. 401080W2. Genuine HOOVER® Allergen Filtration Type W2 disposable filter bags, part No. 401010W2 may also be used. It is imperative that you use only genuine HOOVER® filter bags distributed by Hoover to assure that your cleaner operates at peak performance. HOOVER® bags can be identified by these trademarks -- ® ® ® Changing filter bag A 32 Disconnect cleaner from electrical outlet. To change filter bag, grasp top of bag door (A) and pull door forward. B C 33 The bag door is designed with a "break-away" fea- ture which allows it to snap free if it is pulled to the side. To reattach, align hinges of door with slots on bottom of bag storage area, on the headlight lens. Push door down to secure in place. 34 Remove filter bag by grasping bag collar (B) and pulling collar from tray (C). 35 The bag collar is designed that, as it is removed, the bag opening will be closed off to prevent dirt from leaving the bag.
