MONTAGE ET RÉGLAGES Généralités  AVERTISSEMENT! Pour éviter que le moteur démarre, retirer le câble d'allumage de la bougie d'allumage. MISE EN GARDE! La tondeuse est expédiée sans huile ou essence dans le moteur. Retirer la tondeuse du carton • Retirer toutes les pièces incluses avec la tondeuse. • Couper deux coins de carton et étaler l'extrémité du panneau à plat. • Retirer tous les matériaux d'emballage, à l'exception du rembourrage entre les poignées supérieure et inférieure et du rembourrage qui retient la poignée de frein moteur à la poignée supérieure. • Faire rouler la tondeuse hors de la boîte et s'assurer qu'aucune pièce ne reste à l'intérieur de la boîte. Guidon Installer le module de démarrage électrique 1. Desserrer la vis à oreilles. 2. Rétracter complètement la vis à oreilles dans le carter du module de démarrage (la vis est retenue dans le carter et ne peut pas être complètement retirée). 3. Placer le module de démarrage au-dessus du tube de la poignée supérieure et aligner le trou de montage de la vis à oreilles. 4. Pousser la vis à oreilles à travers le trou de montage. MISE EN GARDE! Prendre soin de ne pas endommager les câbles et les fils électriques lors du dépliage du guidon. Position de fonctionnement 1. Lever la poignée inférieure en position de marche. Aligner les goupilles du guidon avec la fente de son support pour que celui-ci soit à une hauteur confortable. 5. Serrer la vis à oreilles sur le boîtier du module de démarrage. 6. Brancher solidement le faisceau de câblage de la tondeuse au module de démarrage électrique. 2. Serrer les boutons inférieurs du guidon. 3. Retirer le rembourrage de protection, relever la poignée supérieure en place sur la poignée inférieure et serrer les deux boutons supérieurs. 4. Retirer tout le matériel d'emballage autour de la poignée de frein de moteur. 66 - French IMPORTANT : S'assurer que le dispositif de verrouillage à cliquet sur la vis à oreilles est engagé pour empêcher que la vis ne se desserre pendant le fonctionnement. MAINTENANCE 4 If the oil level is low, fill using engine oil up to the upper level on the dipstick. CAUTION! Initial oil fill requires only 15 oz. / 0.5 l due to residual oil in engine from the manufacturers 100% quality testing. When changing oil you may need 18 oz. / 0.6 l. Add oil 1 The lawn mower should stand on flat ground when you check the oil level. Ensure the ignition lead has been removed from the spark plug before you open the oil filler cap. 2 Remove the oil cap and wipe the dipstick clean. 3 Slowly pour oil down the oil fill spout, stopping evey few ounces to check the oil level with the dipstick. 4 Stop adding oil when you reach the FULL mark on the dipstick. Wait a minute to allow oil to settle. 5 Always be sure to retighten oil dipstick before starting engine. 6 Refit cable to spark plug. Oil change CAUTION! The oil level must always be checked before starting the engine. Change the oil after every 25 hours of operation or at least once a year. Clean more often if conditions are exceptionally dusty. Follow the maintenance schedule in this manual. 1 Disconnect the spark plug wire from the spark plug. 2 Always empty the fuel tank before you place the lawn mower on its side. Empty the fuel tank by running the machine until the tank is empty. 3 Unscrew the oil filler cap. 4 Place a suitable vessel in position to collect the oil as it drains. 5 Drain the oil by tipping the engine so that the oil runs out through the filler pipe. When the machine is tilted, make sure the air filter always is placed in the highest position. Ask where you can dispose of surplus engine oil at your local gas station. 6 If you have spilled fuel or engine oil on the machine, wipe off the spillage and allow remaining fuel to evaporate. 7 Slowly pour oil down the oil fill spout, stopping evey few ounces to check the oil level with the dipstick. Do not overfill! 8 Always be sure to retighten oil dipstick before starting engine. 9 Reconnect to the spark plug wire. Muffler If the muffler is corroded or is damaged in any other way, it must be replaced because it may become a fire hazard and/or cause injury. Spark plug CAUTION! Always use the recommended spark plug type! Use of the wrong spark plug can damage the piston/cylinder. • Replace spark plug at the beginning of each mowing season or after every 100 hours of operation, whichever occurs first. Spark plug type and gap setting are shown in the "Product specification" section of this manual. Air filter Your engine will not run properly and may be damaged by using a dirty air filter. Replace the air filter cartridge every 100 hours of operation or every season, which ever occurs first. Service air cleaner more often under dusty conditions. • Remove the air filter cover and take out the filter. • Clean the filter by knocking the filter against a flat surface. Never use solvent with petroleum, for example, kerosene, or compressed air to clean the filter. • An air filter that has been in use for a long time cannot be cleaned completely. The filter must therefore be replaced with a new one at regular intervals. A damaged air filter must always be replaced. • When reassembling, make sure that the filter completely seals against the filter holder. English - 23
