TROUBLESHOOTING Troubleshooting schedule  WARNING! If service operations or troubleshooting does not require the machine to be on, the engine should be switched off, and the spark plug wire disconnected from the spark plug. Problem Probable cause Incorrect starting procedure. Air filter clogged There is no fuel in the fuel tank Spark plug defective The machine does not start Spark plug cable disconnected. Loose blade or broken blade adapter Defect engine brake handle Fuel valve lever (if equipped) in OFF postion The battery voltage is too low (if equipped) Battery connected incorrectly (if equipped) Height of cut too low. Cutting extremely tall grass Less power Air filter clogged Buildup of grass, leaves and trash under mower Too much oil in the engine Walking speed too fast Worn, bent or loose blade Uneven mowing Wheel heights uneven Buildup of grass, leaves and trash under mower Excessive vibrations Worn, bent or loose blade Bent engine crankshaft Engine flywheel brake is on when the engine brake handle is released Starter rope hard Bent engine crankshaft to pull Blade adapter broken Incorrect starting procedure. Grass catcher not filling (if equippped) Cutting height too low Worn blade Catcher not venting air Cutting extremely tall grass Difficult to push the machine forward Cutting height too low Grass catcher too full Handle height not right for you Belt wear Drive starts feeling slow Belt off of pulley Worn, damaged or untensioned clutch wire Potential Solution See instructions under the heading Starting and stopping. Clean the air filter. Replace if necessary. Refill with fuel Replace the spark plug. Check that the spark plug wire is connected to the spark plug. Tighten blade bolt or replace blade adapter. Contact an authorized service workshop. Turn fuel valve lever to the ON position. Charge the battery. Connect battery to engine Raise height of cut. Clean the air filter. Replace if necessary. Clean underside of mower housing. Check the engine's oil level Cut at slower walking speed. Replace the blade if it is bent or damaged. Set all wheels at same height Clean underside of mower housing. Replace the blade if it is bent or damaged. Contact an authorized service workshop. Depress the engine brake handle to upper handle before pulling starter rope. Contact an authorized service workshop. Contact your service agent. See instructions under the heading Starting and stopping. Raise height of cut. Replace the blade Clean / Inspect Grass Catcher Raise height of cut. Empty the grass catcher Adjust handle height (if equippped) See instructions under the heading Replacing the drive belt. Troubleshooting schedule

WARNING! If service operations or troubleshooting does not require the machine to be on, the
engine should be switched off, and the spark plug wire disconnected from the spark plug.

Incorrect starting procedure.

Air filter clogged
Clean the air filter. Replace if necessary.
There is no fuel in the fuel tank
Refill with fuel
Spark plug defective
Replace the spark plug.
Spark plug cable disconnected.
Check that the spark plug wire is connected to the spark
plug.
Loose blade or broken blade adapter
Tighten blade bolt or replace blade adapter.
Defect engine brake handle
Contact an authorized service workshop.
Fuel valve lever (if equipped) in OFF postion
Turn fuel valve lever to the ON position.
The battery voltage is too low (if equipped)
Charge the battery.
Battery connected incorrectly (if equipped)
Connect battery to engine
Less power
Height of cut too low.
Raise height of cut.
Cutting extremely tall grass
Air filter clogged
Clean the air filter. Replace if necessary.
Buildup of grass, leaves and trash under
mower
Clean underside of mower housing.

Check the engine’s oil level

Cut at slower walking speed.

Replace the blade if it is bent or damaged.
Bent engine crankshaft
Contact an authorized service workshop.

Engine flywheel brake is on when the engine
brake handle is released
Depress the engine brake handle to upper handle before
pulling starter rope.
Bent engine crankshaft
Contact an authorized service workshop.
Blade adapter broken
Contact your service agent.
