Locating components-desktop model The following illustration will help you locate the various components in your computer. 1 CD-ROM drive 2 Empty drive bay 3 Hard disk drive 4 Diskette drive 5 DIMM 6 System board 7 Microprocessor 8 AGP adapter (some models) 9 PCI slot Installing options on the system board and riser card (some models) This section provides instructions for installing options, such as system memory and adapters, on the system board and the riser card (some models). Accessing the system board To access the system board, you must remove the computer cover. For information on removing the computer cover, see "Removing the cover" on page 45. You might need to remove adapters in order to access some components of the system board. For information about expansion adapters, see "Installing adapters" on page 52.
