OTHER FUNCTIONS 8 ■■Horn function 1 D Automatic foghorn function The automatic foghorn function sounds a horn repeatedly until the function is turned OFF. Four patterns are available for varying conditions. 2 The foghorn outputs from the hailer speaker. To use this 3 function, the hailer speaker must be connected to the trans- ceiver. See page 101 for connection details. 4 TYPE PATTERN USAGE 5 5s1 6 One 5-second blasts every 120 UNDERWAY seconds. Motor vessel underway and making way. 7 120s 8 5s1 STOP Two 5-second blasts (separated by 2 seconds) every 120 sec- onds. 2s 120s 9 Motor vessel underway but stopped (not making way). 10 11 One 5-second blast followed 5s1 by two 1-second blasts (each 1s SAIL separated by 2 seconds) every 120 seconds. 2s 120s TOW One 5-second blast followed 5s1 1s by three 1-second blasts (each separated by 2-seconds) every 120 seconds. 2s 120s Sailing vessel underway, fishing vessel 12 (underway or anchored), vessel not under command, a vessel restricted in her ability 13 to maneuver (underway or at anchor), or a 14 vessel towing or pushing another ahead. 15 Vessel under tow (manned). 16 76
