q WARNINGS Indication HEAD CLEANING REQUIRED! VTR WARNING (DEW) VTR WARNING (HARD) VTR WARNING (TAPE) Condition Displayed in case of video head clogging. (Head clogging is detected and indicated during edit search in the recording mode and during playback.) Displayed when condensation occurs in the GY-DV300. Displayed when abnormality occurs in the GY-DV300. The tape is cut. VTR operation and remedy Operation : Continues Remedy : Clean the head with the special head cleaning tape. ( See page 10.) Operation : Attempts to operate are rejected. Remedy : Leave the GY-DV300 with the power turned ON until the indication disappears. Operation : Operation stops. All attempts to operate are rejected. Remedy : This condition can be cancelled by setting the POWER switch to "OFF" and then back to "ON" again. In some cases, however, the tape may be damaged. Please consult the person in charge of professional video equipment at your nearest JVC-authorized service agent. Operation : Operation stops. Remedy : Take out the cassette tape. Ⅵ TALLY lamp This lamp blinks when the remaining battery voltage becomes low or the remaining tape is near end. (In shooting mode only) Blinking Condition Slow blinking (1 time per sec) Fast blinking (4 timer per sec) Remaining Battery/Tape • No more remaining battery power. • Remaining tape time is 3 minutes or less. • Tape has run out. • Abnormality in VTR. Memo: The GY-DV300 is a microcomputer-controlled piece of equipment, which may malfunction due to external noise or interference. In this case, turn the power OFF, and then turn it ON again. 101 TENTATIVE TROUBLESHOOTING In Case of Difficulty Symptoms Troubles, Checks and Remedial Actions Power cannot be switched ON. • Is power supply connected properly? • Is battery pack charged? • Was the power turned ON immediately after being turned OFF? Wait at least 5 seconds before turning the power ON again once it has been turned OFF. Operation buttons on the GY-DV300 fail to work. • Is the cassette cover open? The GY-DV300 remains inoperative as long as the cassette door is open. • Is a tape inserted? Recording is not possible. • Is the switch on cassette set to "REC"? If it is set to "SAVE", set it to REC. • Is the MODE switch set to "CAM-A" or "CAM-B"? If set to "VTR", shooting of camera is not possible. The camera image does not appear on the LCD screen or in the viewfinder. • Is the MODE switch set to "CAM-A" or "CAM-B"? If set to "VTR", the camera image is not output. Image on the LCD screen or the viewfinder screen looks dark or unclear. • Adjust the brightness of the LCD screen or viewfinder screen. • Check if the ND filter switch is set to "ON". • Is the iris closed? • Is the shutter speed setting too fast? Manual adjustments, such as adjustment of shutter speed, gain, iris, etc. not possible. • Is the shooting mode the AUTO mode? • Is AE mode ON? To enable manual adjustments, set the AE item on the OPERATION menu screen to OFF. Camera-shake compensation does not work. • Is the OIS item on the OPERATION menu screen set to OFF? Set to ON to activate the camera-shake compensation function. The sound from the built-in microphone is not input. • Is the MIC1 INPUT SEL item on the SYSTEM [1/2] menu screen set to XLR? To use the built-in microphone, set to INT. The sound from the microphone connected to the MIC 1 input connector is not input. • Is the MIC1 INPUT SEL item on the SYSTEM [1/2] menu screen set to INT?
