2 Taking Pictures Use the Still setting on the Mode dial whenever you take pictures or wish to customize your picture-taking settings. Before you take a picture, make sure your picture storage location is set the way you want it (page 13). Taking a Picture 1 Turn the Mode dial to Still . 2 Frame your subject. Use the viewfinder, or turn on Preview (page 16) and use the LCD screen. 3 Press the Shutter button half-way to set the exposure. 4 Continue pressing the Shutter button completely down to take the picture. Viewfinder light The viewfinder light blinks green while the picture is being saved. The viewfinder light blinks yellow when the flash is recharging. If necessary, wait for the flash to charge before taking the next picture. CAUTION: Do not insert or remove a Picture Card when the green viewfinder light is blinking. Doing so may damage your pictures, Picture Card, or camera. 15
